Hi SUPERMOMS,
I know that it is raining hearts everywhere. When I open facebook, I see soo many dessert pics in the shape of heart. I joined that bandwagon too.
We had a party at a friend's place and I baked a simple Vanilla cake with choco ganache. But wanted to make something savoury too.... No..not pizza...something different!
I came across this recipe in Rajshree food channel and was so excited to try it. Tweaked the recipe to make my own hearty shape !!!
This is actually a fantastic party starter, a super evening snack and a yummilicious TIffin box idea!
INGREDIENTS
Bread - you can use whole wheat too( I used an entire loaf)
Grated paneer( cottage cheese or you can use tofu)
Capsicum - finely chopped
Tomatoes(deseeded and chopped)
Green chillies( i used pickled Jalapenoes)
Onions( ginely chopped)
Fresh cilantro( optional)
Your favourite herbs and spices( I used oregano, basil, parsley, chilli flakes, crushed pepper, garlic powder and salt)
Tomato ketchup/ pizza pasta sauce
Butter
Cheddar cheese
I am not giving the measures, as it depends on now much bread rings you are going to prepare.
Lets start making this dish!
1. In a pan, heat a tsp of oil and saute' the onions, capsicum, tomatoes, chillies and little salt. Then add the panneer. Saute' for just about 5 to 7 minutes. Add all the spices, stir for a minute and switch off. Allow it to cool.
Your stuffing for the ring is ready!
2. Transfer the stuffing to a plate to cool. Keep the grated cheese ready.
3.It is time to prepare the spread. Mix butter, cheddar cheese(if you have cheese spread, you can use that too) and tomato ketchup( you can use tomato chilli sauce or pizza pasta sauce if you like a little spice) in a bowl. Mix it well. This is our spread.
4. Now, it's time to get our hearty rings ready. You can make it in any shape you want. It is going to taste as yummy as ever.
All you need is heart shape( in two sizes) . For that matter, if you are using square or circle, one big and one smaller size. First, cut the bread with the larger size heart. Infact cut all the batch which you want to do with the large size heart. I used the cookie cutter. You can use container caps if you do not have cookie cutter.
5. Then, take half of the cut heart shape and further cut it with the smaller heart shale like this.
6.You get these beautiful heart rings!!!!
7. Repeat the same for the entire batch.
8. Now its assembling time. Take the large heart and generously apply the tomato cheese butter spread.
9. Place the heart ring on top of this and with fill the space inside with the paneer(cottage cheese) stuffing
10. Preheat the oven while you are arranging the rings in a lined baking tray. Garnish the rings with cheese and sprinkle oregano on the top.
11. Bake at 180 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes or till the sides starts to brown. You can keep it a little longer for extra crunch.
Your delicious HEARTY CHEESE RINGS are ready to be served!
If you are going prepare this as a starter for your house party, then you can prepare till STEP 10 and freeze it. Bake just before the party and thrill your guests. You can do the same if you are preparing for tiffin box too, so that you need not hassle yourself in the morning. Just bake and pack!
You must be wondering what I did with the cut out small hearts! No, I did not waste them...I made a NO BAKE DESSERT!
Just added Nutella chocolate spread and some sprinkles for fun and gobbled them! You can add jam, marmalade, peanut butter, pickle or any other spread and enjoy!!!!!!!!
I am sure you loved this recipe! Trust, you will enjoy seeing a loaf of bread convert into these yummy delicacies!
You are definite to bring more smiles! Keep spreading the joy!
HAPPY COOKING!
With love,
MASTERCHEFMOM
