'Chilli Cheese Toast' the name itself has the recipe is'nt it? A simple, yet tasty toast recipe for you. I make this so frequently. Quick , easy and toast made on tawa. I have photographed the toast as open faced so that you can see the inside of the toast. Press the other part of the toast over this cheese one and cook on tawa for one to two minutes and the cheese melts and tastes delicious.
You can sprinkle your choice your seasoning of fresh or dry herbs over the cheese. Another 'under 10 minutes' breakfast that can be packed for office/school lunch box also.
Chilli Cheese Toast | Chilli Cheese Toast on Tawa:
Preparation time : 5 minutes
Cooking time : 10 minutes
Serves : 2
10 bread slices ( I have removed the corners and shaped them, but not required)
2 tablespoons salted butter
5 cheese slices
5-6 green chillies ( finely chopped)
2 tomatoes ( de seeded and cut into roundels)
2 teaspoons seasoning ( I use Italian seasoning, optional)
salt ( a pinch to sprinkle on the tomatoes)
1. Toast the bread with butter on tawa.
2. Simultaneously de-seed and slice tomatoes into roundels and microwave for 1.5 minutes on high.
Note : If you do not have a microwave, then boil 2 cups of water and blanch the tomatoes. Peel skin, de-seed and chop them into smaller pieces.
3. Once both the sides of the bread are toasted, place a cheese slice,finely chopped chillies, chopped tomatoes , sprinkle salt, seasoning on one bread and cover with another slice and gently press with a spatula.
4. Add some butter on butter, flip and cook for one to two minutes on low flame or till the cheese melts and the toast is nice and crispy on the outside.
Cut them and serve with tea or coffee for breakfast or pack the chilli cheese toast for your lunch box. Yum.
