Chocolate Mug cake

Hi Supermoms,

Can you bake a cake in a coffee mug within seconds ? 

Absolutely YES!

 A decadent chocolate cake in a mug in just 120 seconds at any time time of the day is more than possible.  How yummy and convenient, is'nt it ? 

Top the cake with your favourite fruits, some chocolate shavings or sauce and just enjoy spoons of pure bliss. 

I  make this cake ( you can even call it a brownie as it has very little flour) , so often at home and I recently demonstrated it in my Snap Kitchen, where I used Bournvita instead of cocoa powder and baked the mug cake. If you are adding Bournvita/hot chocolate mix instead of cocoa, just omit adding sugar and they just taste as delicious.

A versatile, fool proof recipe for you that can be made so quickly. You can bake individual servings in ramkins ( small porcelain bowls) and serve your guests. Is'nt it a great idea? 

Chocolate Mug Cake



Chocolate Mug Cake :

Preparation time : 5-7 minutes
Cooking time : 2 minutes
Serves : 3 ( medium size ramkins OR 1 large Coffee Mug)
1 cup = 250 ml cup
Special Vessel/equipment : metal hand whisk, ramkins or coffee mug

Ingredients :

1/4 cup whole wheat flour/Atta ( you can use plain flour/maida also, use coconut flour/almond flour/rice flour for gluten free options)
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk (adjust, added 1 tablespoon extra)( For vegan option, use almond milk)
1/8 cup oil ( olive oil or any odourless oil ( I used rice bran oil)
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
pinch of salt

Method :

1. In a medium size vessel, add all the dry ingredients - flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt and mix well using a fork.
2. Add milk, oil and whisk the batter without lumps.
3. Now, add the sugar and whisk again.
4. Pour the batter into the mug or ramkins ( fill upto 1/2 of the mug) and microwave on high for 2 minutes.
Note : This time will vary depending upon the microwave you are using . So, bake for one minute, then increase the time in bursts of 30 seconds, checking each time by inserting a tooth pick in the centre of the cake. If it come out clean, then your cake is cooked through)

5. You can garnish the cake if you like with chocolate sauce/chocolate pieces/fruits etc., and serve.
