Fruit Chaat | Delhi Special Fruit Chaat | How to make Fruit Chaat at Home | Vegan and Gluten Free Recipe | Navratra Special Recipe

Hi Supermoms,

There are so many amazing street food recipes in  India. They are popularly called as 'Chaat' - Tangy and 'Finger licking good'  food. Today I am adding one more dish to the list of 'Best Indian Street Food '- Fruit Chaat. This is quite popular in Delhi and people relish it especially during summers. Fresh Seasonal fruits and some vegetables like cucumber, potatoes and sweet potatoes are tossed along with the Indian Spices and served with a dash of lemon juice. You can also get custom 'chaat ' according to your fruit and spice preference.

As it is 'Navratra' time , I see more of fruit Chaat stalls here, as it is one of the most preferred meal during this time. High in nutrients and great immunity booster, this recipe is a must try. You can use the seasonal fruits available in your region.

Fruit Chaat | Delhi Style Fruit Chaat :

Preparation time : 20 minutes
Serves : 4-6
1 cup = 250 ml

Ingredients : ( peel and cube/chop  the fruits in uniform size)

1 mango
20 green grapes/purple grapes (halved)
1/2 melon
1 banana
1/4 papaya
1 pomegranate
1 orange (halved)
1 pear
1 apple
1 sweet potato ( boiled, optional)

For the Spice Mix:

1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
1/8 teaspoon red chilli powder ( optional, I avoided as I was preparing for Vrat)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
1/4 teaspoon sugar
pinch of salt( use rock salt/sendha namak if making for Navratra )
juice of 1 lemon

For Garnish :

1.Finely chopped mint/pudina leaves OR cilantro
Note: You can make a farali chutney /phalahari chutney ( green chutney) and drizzle on top of the fruit chaat. Avoid onion and add rock salt if you are preparing for Vrat/Fasting.
If you are making green chutney , then omit lemon juice in the spice mix.

2. Dry roasted nuts and seeds ( flax seeds, melon seeds, cucumber seeds , sunflower seeds)

Method :

1. Add all the chopped fruits in a large bowl.
2. Add the ingredients given under 'spice mix' and mix well using a ladle or spoon.
3. Transfer the fruits into individual  serving bowls and drizzle the green chutney OR garnish with chopped mint or coriander and roasted seeds.

Your delicious and healthy Fruit Chaat is ready.
