Vegan Cheese Spread | Garlic and Paprika Cheese Spread

Hi Supermoms,

You might have observed that I have been sharing a lot of Vegan and Gluten Free recipes lately. Two main reasons for this. Firstly, I have been receiving a lot of requests from my dear readers to share healthy, guilt free recipes ( low calorie) that can be made in a jiffy and also be packed for office/school lunch box . Secondly, many children nowadays are lactose/ nuts/gluten intolerant. 

Keeping their needs in mind, here is a useful, delicious and guilt free condiment that can be easily made in minutes. No fancy ingredients or equipments. Moreover, it is versatile and can be your 'go to' spread for sandwiches, rolls, wraps etc., 

I have flavoured the cheese with garlic and paprika. You can be creative and prepare your favourite flavour.  Summer holidays have started and with active kids around who are always hungry, such condiments are so handy. Even otherwise, who wants to work long hours in the kitchen in this scorching summer heat?

Vegan Cheese Spread | Garlic and Paprika Cheese Spread :

Preparation time : 2 minutes
Cooking time : 5 -7 minutes
Serves : 4-6
1 Cup = 250 ml Cup
Storage : Keeps good for 3-4 days when refrigerated . Store in a clean and dry vessel/bottle

Ingredients :

1 cup soy milk (plain)
2 teaspoon corn starch 
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 
1/2 teaspoon paprika OR kashmiri chilli powder 
1 teaspoon oil ( I used sesame oil)
salt to taste

Chef Tips : a. If you do not have garlic powder, dry roast 1-2 garlic pods with the skin . Peel the skin and crush them in a mortar and pestle and add it to the cheese spread.
b. You can also use 4-5 black pepper corns freshly crushed/powdered instead of paprika.


1. Mix the corn starch with 2 tablespoons of water.
2. Add the corn starch mixture to the soy milk.
3. Heat a small wide pan with oil over low flame.

4. Add the soy milk mixture and keep stirring till the mixture becomes creamy. 
Note: Keep stirring to prevent any lumps. Do not over do as the spread thickens when it cools.
5. Switch off .
6. Add the garlic powder, chilli powder, salt and whisk well with a spoon or balloon whisk.

You can use freshly chopped herbs just  before you spread them on your rolls/ wraps/ sandwiches or burgers.

The cheese spread is ready to be slathered over your breads .
