Sweet Potato Chips Recipe

Hi Supermoms,

Home made Vegetable or Fruit Chips have their own charm . I try and make them whenever I can.  Recently I made sweet potato /sakkaravallai kizhangu chips and they turned out crispy and yummy.  The entire batch disappeared so quickly. 

As the size of the sweet potato was really large, I had to cut them into half and slice them. I had earlier shared the recipe of Raw Banana Chips. Hope you try them too.

Sweet Potato Chips Recipe :

Preparation time : 15 minutes
Cooking time : 15 minutes
Serves : 4 


Ingredients :

1 large sweet potato or 2 medium size sweet potato
coconut oil ( to fry )

Method :

1. Wash the sweet potato well.
Chef tip : Slice the potatoes when the oil is ready to avoid blackening of the sweet potatoes. 
2. Slice them thinly.

3. Place them in a kitchen towel to pat dry .
Chef tip : You can directly slice them over oil , but it requires some expertise. You need to be extremely careful with hot oil.
4. Heat oil in a wide pan or kadai.
5. Drop a small piece of sweet potato to check if the oil is hot.
Chef tip : It needs to instantly sizzle and float up.
6. Fry the sweet potato in small batches.

7. Let them fry well on a both sides.
8. Drain in a kitchen towel/tissue paper.



Note : I did not add any spices or salt to the chips as we like the light sweetness of the sweet potatoes. 

Your sweet potato chips are ready to be served along with lunch platter or enjoyed as a snack.
