PITA BREAD

Hi SUPERMOMS,

Had made PITA BREAD sometime ago, but somehow missed blogging this recipe. This is a Mddle Eastern bread that is soft and is eaten with HUMMUS dip /BABA GHANOUSH/ TAHINI. It can be stuffed with FALAFEL and lots of fresh vegetables. Sounds interesting? Easy to make too!

This bread is becoming increasing popular as it tastes good and can be made with Whole wheat flour too!

The best part is that home made PITAs taste far superior than the store bought ones. It is so exciting to watch the PITA s puff up.....

RECIPE COURTESY: Allrecipes.com

INGREDIENTS:

All purpose Flour- 1 cup(120 gms)
Whole wheat flour- 3 cups(360 gms)

Instant dry yeast- 1 tsp
Salt- 1 tsp
olive oil- 2 tbsp

Sugar- 1 tbsp
Luke warm water- 2 cups( adjust)

Lets start preparing our Pita..
1. Prepare the dough. Rest it 40 minutes  or little more to prove( rise). Since it is a flat bread this time will be enough.

2. Divide the dough into equal size balls. Flatten out each ball into a circle using the rolling pin...just like making PHULKAS. But roll gently.

3. Grease a baking tray and arrange the rolled out PITAs. In a preheated oven ,bake the PITA s for 7 to 10 minutes or till they beautifully puff up and brown on the top. Bake at 160 degrees.

If you do not have an oven, you can make this on the tawa too! No change in taste at all!

4. Your soft, light and healthy PITA BREAD is ready to be served to your loved ones!!!

You can cut them and stuff them with FALAFEL and veggies too!

Hope you enjoyed this recipe, just the way I enjoyed sharing it with you! Refer this link for the recipe of FALAFEL.

Spreading more smiles with cooking...

Love,

MASTERCHEFMOM
