This year on August 15th, three festivals were celebrated on the same day -Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan and Avini Avittam .
I would have prepared different menus to celebrate each of these special occasions if they had come on different days 😀. I had recently spoken to you about the month of July and August having so many festivals but did I tell you that sometimes they also come on the same day 😅.
It actually gave me holiday vibes and I was in no mood to cook an elaborate spread. I cooked one sweet dish, one fried dish , a great salad and a delicious sambar and pan fried vegetable. It was a sumptuous and simple festival meal .

You can soak the lentils/dal for making vadai as the first thing in the morning. You can peel and chop the plantain and keep it soaked in water till the time you make them. You can grate the coconut a day earlier . You can also plan making sprouts a day or two earlier.
