Bhabra | Bihar and Jharkhand Special Bhabra Recipe | Gluten Free and Vegan Snack Recipe
Hi Supermoms,
With the online classes for my daughter and Work from Home (WFH) for Raghu, I see a big change in the way the evening snack time is approached. They really look forward to the 'Chai time' and Snacks as it gives a refreshing break from the 'never ending' lengthy zoom classes and meetings and the monotony of staring at their computer screens.
This encourages me to try different snack and tiffin recipes. You all know that I try and include legumes as much as possible in my family's diet. And the recipe I am going to share today is protein-rich, tasty, wholesome, gluten free and is also easy to prepare. The Bhabra.
It is a popular breakfast recipe especially in the Indian States of Bihar and Jharkhand. The recipe varies from family to family. Gram Flour or besan is mixed along with soaked brown garbanzo beans/kala chana and spices to make a batter that is either deep fried or shallow fried in mustard oil.
During winters, fresh green chickpeas are ubiquitous and they are used in this recipe in which case, no prior soaking is required. I have used kala chana as it is easily available in all parts of the world through out the year.
I made these delectable Bhabra for our Chai time and it was so tasty and satisfying. So, go ahead and try these yummy Bhabras for your family. You can serve them for breakfast, lunch or even as a tea time snack.
