Vathal Kuzhambu and Pachadi Meal | Indian Thali Ideas By Masterchefmom #006| Gluten Free Meal

Some meals are truly memorable. Especially if at least one dish gets a lot of appreciation and is licked every time you serve it 😍. In this meal , the Vathal Kuzhambu that I made in a stone vessel stood out and was preserved and eaten for three days. 

Many of you saw me cooking this drumstick Kuzhambu in the stone vessel. The beauty of the vessel is that it is a bad conductor of heat. After cooking, you need not transfer the kuzhambu into another container. It remains good in that vessel itself. In fact, the taste increases the second day 😀. 

I made this Kuzhambu using sambar powder. Sharing you the link to make this Kuzhambu. The only difference is that I made it in the stone vessel. The taste is unmatched. Do try.

Next in the Thali comes the beetroot pachadi. As Vathal Kuzhambu takes time to cook, it is best to pair it with a dish that takes hardly any time to cook. Also, it goes very well as an accompaniment.

I wanted to add dal to the menu and so made Chow Chow/Chayote Squash Kootu. Made it in pressure cooker and so this again is a quick kootu recipe.

In the last minute I added a steamed cabbage poriyal. I already had some chopped cabbage and so steamed them, added fresh grated coconut and tempered it with mustard seeds, green chillies and curry leaves.

It was one of those days that I did not feel like frying appalam/papad in oil. So, I microwaved some urad dal appalams and they added more happiness to this gluten free meal.
